Sunyani (Bono), Sept. 23, GNA – Mr Vincent Antwi Agyei, the Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) has presented GH¢10,000 to the Sunyani Prisons Regimental Band.
The gesture followed a pledge made by the MCE to support the band to procure additional musical instruments during its official launch.
Speaking at a short ceremony in Sunyani, Mr Agyei reaffirmed his commitment to support the band, urging them to build a vibrant and professional band that the municipality could pride itself with.
The Deputy Director of Prisons (DDP) Thompson Otsyokpo, the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regional Commander of the Ghana Prisons Service thanked the MCE for the gesture.
He gave the assurance that the money would be utilized for the intended purpose and appealed for the MCE’s assistance towards asphalting the inner road leading to the Sunyani Central and Female Prisons.
DDP Otsyokpo noted that improved access roads would facilitate the easy movements of personnel and visitors in accessing the prison facility.
He expressed the hope that the relationship between the prison service and the municipal assembly would be strengthened for mutual benefit.
