Accra, Aug. 5, GNA – The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has denied a social media publication alleging that it lost GH¢200 million to Dominic Bonsu Ventures.
The Board also rejected claims that the proprietor of the company had served as a bodyguard or personal security officer to its Chief Executive Officer.
GoldBod made the clarification in a statement issued by its Media Relations Unit, describing the publication as false, malicious and intended to mislead the public.
The statement urged the public to disregard the claims and rely only on information disseminated through the Board’s official communication channels.
It said Mr Dominic Bonsu had never served as a bodyguard or personal security officer to Mr Sammy Gyamfi.
The Board also denied claims that it had advanced or lost GH¢200 million, or any other amount, to Mr Dominic Bonsu or Dominic Bonsu Ventures.
The statement said the licence of Dominic Bonsu Ventures was suspended following suspected breaches of the terms and conditions of its licence and the GoldBod Trading Directives in accordance with the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025 (Act 1140).
It said the action formed part of the Board’s regulatory mandate to ensure compliance with laws governing Ghana’s gold trading sector.
The statement said subsequent investigations led to the arrest of Mr Dominic Bonsu, who was remanded into lawful custody by the High Court in Accra and remained subject to ongoing legal proceedings.
GoldBod expressed concern over what it described as the deliberate publication of falsehoods intended to distort the facts surrounding the enforcement action and mislead the public.
The Board called on media organisations, bloggers and social media users to verify information before publication and uphold the highest standards of responsible journalism.
It reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and accountability and said it would continue to communicate with the public through its official channels.
The statement said GoldBod would continue to enforce the laws governing Ghana’s gold trading sector fairly, professionally and without fear or favour.
It reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the integrity, transparency and orderly operation of the country’s gold trading industry while pursuing enforcement actions in accordance with the law.
