Accra, Aug. 24, GNA – The Ghana cedi depreciated by about 1.55 per cent against the United States dollar between August 17 and August 24, 2026, Bank of Ghana data show.
The dollar’s buying rate rose from GH¢10.94 on August 17 to GH¢11.11 on August 24, while the selling rate increased from GH¢10.95 to GH¢11.12 over the period.
Data released by the central bank on the interbank market during the week showed the depreciation pushed the dollar above the GH¢11 mark, reflecting a week‑long upward movement in the value of the US currency against the cedi.
The cedi also weakened against other major trading currencies during the period. Against the Pound Sterling, the buying rate increased from GH¢14.83 to GH¢15.16, while the Euro buying rate rose from GH¢12.67 to GH¢12.98.
