Kumasi, May 13, GNA – Access Bank Ghana has presented a cheque for GH₵50,000.00 towards the construction of the Ashanti Regional Press Centre Project being spearheaded by the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA).

The Project is envisioned as a modern hub for media engagement, professional development and the promotion of ethical journalism practice in the region.

Since the inception of the project, it has faced financial constraints, impeding  the progress of the facility.

Ms Pearl Nkrumah, Managing Director, Access Bank Ghana, presenting the cheque at a media engagement in Kumasi, said this formed part of the bank’s corporate commitments and responsibilities to supporting impactful communities.

She indicated that the bank was committed to deepening partnership with the media to drive national development.

The media, she affirmed, played a critical role in shaping public discourse and connecting institutions to members of the public.

“The media plays a vital role in the activities of the bank and remains an important partner in communicating our services and initiatives to the public,” she observed.

Ms Nkrumah was optimistic that empowering journalists and media organisations would enhance the dissemination of credible, accurate and timely information to the public.

She described the construction of a press centre in Ashanti as a worthy and ambitious vision, which would engender effective media engagements adding that “Access Bank is pleased to contribute towards its completion.”

Mr Kofi Adu Domfeh, Ashanti Regional GJA Chairman, described the donation as both timely and encouraging.

“The media in the Ashanti region is grateful to Access Bank for this generous and unexpected donation. It could not have come at a better time when the Ashanti GJA needs strong financial backing to advance the Press Center Project,” he explained.

He assured the bank that its contributions would be remembered as part of efforts to strengthen journalism and media development.

Mr Domfeh used the occasion to call on individuals, corporate institutions, and development partners to support the construction of the project.
