Somanya(E/R), April. 7, GNA – The Yilo Krobo Traditional Council has congratulated President John Dramani Mahama on his historic re-election as Ghana’s sixth president in fourth republic.

Speaking at a press briefing held in Somanya, Eastern Region, Nene Anyernogu Teye Agor IX, the divisional Chief of Okper, expressed profound appreciation for the appointment of four sons and daughters from Yilo Krobo to key government positions.

He noted that the appointments were a significant achievement for the Yilo Krobo community, marking the first time in Ghana’s history that four people from the area have held high offices in a single government.

The traditional ruler emphasised that the appointments reflected President Mahama’s trust in the human resource capability of the area to serve at the highest levels of governance.

“We extend our heartfelt congratulations to you on your historical and unprecedented landslide victory in the just-ended 2024 general elections,” he stated.

Adding, “The overwhelming endorsement you received is a show of confidence from the Ghanaian people in your leadership to transform this country in a progressive direction.”

He also noted that President Mahama’s victory in the Yilo Krobo Constituency sent a clear message that the people of the area believe in the potential of the administration of the National Democratic Congress to bring about positive change.

This victory, he said, placed a responsibility on the President’s administration to include the Yilo Krobo people in important government decisions.

The four appointments include Mr. Seth Tekper as the economic advisor to the President, Mr Tetteh Yohuno as the Inspector General of Police, Mrs Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey as the Eastern Regional Minister, and Mr Nathaniel Tetteh as the Director of the National Service Authority for the Eastern Region.

“This is the first time in the history of Ghana that the Yilo Krobo Traditional Area has had four major appointments in a single government,” he added.

“Your decision is unprecedented and reflects your confidence in the abilities of our people. It also fulfils your promise to have an all-inclusive government.”

He acknowledged that President Mahama’s recognition of the Yilo Krobo community was a direct response to their support during the elections.

He assured the President that this gesture would strengthen the long-standing relationship between the people of Yilo Krobo and his administration.

Nene Agor IX expressed confidence in the NDC government’s plans, saying, “We are certain this is just the beginning of many developmental initiatives for the Yilo Krobo Traditional Area. We stand ready to work with you and your administration to build a better and prosperous Ghana for all.”

The Yilo Krobo Traditional Council’s support for President Mahama underscores the commitment of the people to national development and their strong partnership with the government.
