Wumeve-Akatsi, (V/R), Apr 02, GNA – Togbi Torgbo III, Chief of Wumeve-Torgbokope and Xebidzikofe in the Avenor Traditional Area, has unveiled an ambitious plan to transform the area into a modern agribusiness hub to attract investors and boost economic growth.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Togbi Torgbo III stated that the area’s fertile lands and favourable conditions make it ideal for large-scale agricultural activities, which must be fully harnessed to improve livelihoods and accelerate development.
“My grand vision is to establish Wumeve-Torgbokope as a model hub for agribusiness, where farming and related activities are modernized, valued, and made attractive to our young ones, through the establishment of cottage industries, we will process farm produce locally, create jobs, provide ready markets for farmers, and reduce post-harvest losses,” Togbi stated.
He made the remarks at his palace in Wumeve where he outlined his vision as the newly enstooled traditional ruler.
As part of efforts to achieve this transformation, Togbi Torgbo III disclosed plans to engage key stakeholders, including the Volta Regional Minister, the Member of Parliament for Akatsi South, Mr Bernard Ahiafor, and the Minister for Roads and Highways, to advocate for critical infrastructural developments.
“I will swiftly engage the relevant authorities to begin discussions on the urgent need for the construction of the Akatsi to Avedakpa road. This project is crucial to unlocking our area’s economic potential and driving sustainable development,” he stressed.
Togbi Torgbo III known in private life as Dr. Gift Denyo, was recently enstooled as the Chief (Dufia) of Wuveme-Torgbokope and Wodome-Xebidzikofe.
The Wumeve area is renowned for its vast arable lands, supporting the cultivation of crops such as cassava, maize, tubers, and vegetables. The region is also well suited for poultry farming, offering significant opportunities for agribusiness expansion.
Beyond his development agenda, Togbi reaffirmed his commitment to a leadership style rooted in service rather than rulership.
“My leadership will be defined by service, humility, and integrity. I am not here to rule over you but to serve and uplift you. You are my greatest asset, and I vow to work with you in truth and dedication,” he declared.
His vision signals a new era of growth and transformation for Wumeve-Torgbokope, with the potential to position the area as a key player in Volta Region’s agribusiness sector.
