Funsi, (UW/R), April 18, GNA – Mr Adamu Sayibu, the President’s nominee for the District Chief Executive (DCE) position of the Wa East District, has suffered rejection by the Assembly Members during his confirmation exercise.
The DCE nominee had 13 “Yes” votes out of 36 Valid votes, representing 36.11 per cent.
The nominee was rejected despite appeals by both the President’s nominee, Mr Sayibu and the Upper West Regional Minister, Mr Charles Lwanga Puozuing to the Assembly Members to confirm him.
Before the voting, Mr Sayibu said it would be an honour to him and the President for the Assembly Members to confirm him because he was also an Assembly Member.
“For the records, in our history, anytime the President nominates our own we normally give the person a hundred per cent confirmation.
We did it in 2017, we did it in 2021 and, inshallah, I am very hopeful we will do it in 2025”, he stated.
Mr Puozuing, on his part, appealed to the Assembly Members to emulate the hundred per cent (100%) confirmation given to the Wa West District and also confirm Mr Sayibu.
Meanwhile, the nominees for Wa Municipal Assembly and Wa West District Assembly, Alhaji Nura Issah Danwana and Mr Richard Wulo, respectively, both had hundred per cent (100%) confirmation.
