Ho (V/R), April 1, GNA – The Volta Regional Chief Imam, Alhaji Alpha Anas Hamidu, has appealed to authorities for the completion of the Islamic Senior High School project in the region to ensure access of Muslim children to quality secondary education.

Speaking during the Eid-al-Fitr celebration in Ho on Monday, March 31, the Chief Imam emphasised the need for unity and collective efforts to push for the completion of the long-awaited educational project.

According to him, the project was initiated to bridge the educational gap for Muslim children in the region, but progress has stalled due to lack of support.

During his speech, the Chief Imam underscored the importance of peace, harmony, and togetherness in fostering development.

“We are calling on all Muslims to live in peace, not just with fellow Muslims but with non-Muslims as well. Today, we are not only celebrating the end of Ramadan, but we are also celebrating the spirit of generosity, unity, and a new beginning,” he stated.

He urged the Muslim community in the Volta Region to maintain peaceful coexistence with others, noting that there would be no development without peace.

He also encouraged leaders and stakeholders to ensure that stalled projects, such as the Islamic Senior High School, were completed for the benefit of the community.

Alhaji Hamidu also drew attention to another unfinished project—the construction of a six-classroom block for the Nureeya Islamic Basic School.

He appealed to the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), the Volta Regional Minister, and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ho Central to provide the necessary support to complete the school infrastructure.

“As we begin a new year after Ramadan, we are calling on our leaders—our MCE the new one, the regional minister, our MP—to come and assist us in completing these important projects. We have all the necessary documents for the Islamic Senior High School, and everything is ready. Now, we need the government and relevant authorities to step in and support us,” he pleaded.

In response, the Member of Parliament for Ho Central, Mr. Richmond Kofi Kposu, expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Muslim community in acquiring land and starting the school project.

He assured the gathering that he would do everything within his power to push for the completion of the project, emphasising the commitment of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government to fulfilling its promises.

“The President made a promise to reduce the Hajj fees, and he has delivered. Likewise, we will make sure that this school project is completed for you,” he assured.

The celebration of Eid-al-Fitr marked the culmination of the holy month of Ramadan, a period of fasting, prayer, and reflection for Muslims worldwide.

As Muslims across the globe observed this significant occasion, the Chief Imam urged the Volta Muslim community to use the spirit of the celebration to renew their commitment to peace, progress, and development.
