TTI students benefit from Iduapriem Mine’s generosity

Lay-Out (W/R), April 2, GNA – The Tarkwa Technical Institute (TTI) has received five industrial sewing machines from AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine to enhance the training of students in the fashion department.

The machines worth GH¢25,000.00 is expected to help the students to acquire practical skills and expertise to excel in the fashion industry.

Mr Stephen Adjei, the Senior Manager-Sustainability, AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine, who made the presentation on behalf of the company said, they received a request from the principal of the institution for industrial sewing machines to benefit the fashion students.

He said their decision to assist the students was in line with their longstanding commitment to promote quality education and learning in their operational area, adding, “Our support was part of a broader effort to strengthen our relations with the community and foster economic growth”.

Mr Adjei also mentioned that providing the students the tools and training they required, they have contributed to their success and the development of the local economy.

“We believe the sewing machines would enable TTI students to complete their courses and apply their skills innovatively in the garment and fashion industries” the senior manager, sustainability indicated.

He gave the assurance that Iduapriem Mine would continue to prioritize initiatives that supported skills development, economic empowerment, and social progress.

Mr Adjei acknowledged the dedication of TTI’s leadership and staff to providing quality education and expressed his sincere appreciation to them.

Miss Francisca Abena Lewis, Vice Principal of TTI, conveyed her deepest gratitude to Iduapriem Mine for their generous gift to the school, emphasizing that their aid would be instrumental in improving teaching and learning.

“Our fashion department, with close to 200 students has been operating with limited resources, having only three industry machines, so the presentation of these five sewing machines will greatly enhance our capabilities “She added.

Ms Lewis promised the mine that they would make good use of the sewing machines and maintain them properly and was hopeful that the institution would continue to have their support in future.

Ms Yvonne Ama Dudome, a form three student from the Catering and Hospitality Department, on behalf of her colleagues, offered appreciation to Iduapriem Mine for their kindness.
