Tema Police Command seek public help to identify deceased cyclist

Tema, April 07, GNA - The Ghana Police Service has appealed to the public for assistance in identifying a male adult cyclist who tragically lost his life in a fatal road crash on the Tema-Aflao Highway.  

The incident occurred on Saturday, April 05, 2025, at approximately 11:17 hours, near the Tema Motorway Interchange. 

This was contained in an official public announcement copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Tema office. 

The statement said, the unidentified cyclist was involved in a collision with a tipper truck which inflicted severe injuries on him, leading to his instant death at the scene. 

The deceased was said to have been holding a pickaxe, cutlass, and sack, and it’s believed he was closing or on his way to work. 

The statement said the deceased was later conveyed to the Tema General Hospital mortuary, where his body was currently being preserved pending identification and autopsy. 

According to the police, the victim was a dark-complexioned male, approximately 5.5 feet tall, with short dreadlocks, adding that at the time of the accident, the deceased was wearing a red Shell-branded T-shirt and blue nylon trousers.  

It added that police suspected that he might be a resident of the surrounding areas of the Tema Motorway Interchange, though no identification documents were found on him. 

The Tema Community One Police Command urged members of the public, especially those who might have seen the victim prior to the incident or who could provide information regarding his identity, to contact Sergeant Amoako on 0545343634.
