By Laudia Sawer

Tema, April 02, GNA – The Tema branch of the Power Queens Club of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has received fire prevention training as part of the Club’s vision of empowering and educating its members on various issues.

The workshop, held at the ECG Tema Regional Office, had members of the all-female club of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) take the ECG ladies through safety issues at home.

The ladies were cautioned against overloading sockets, not leaving open fires unattended, and keeping heating equipment in aerated areas; they also received training in the handling of fire extinguishers.

The interactive workshop also gave the ladies a general overview of the operations of the GNFS, as well as what should be done in fire outbreaks.

They were also advised to educate their colleagues and household on general safety issues to prevent accidents and fire outbreaks.

Madam Anabel Zormelo, an engineer and the President of the Tema ECG Power Queens, stated that the training was organised to help educate and spread information on safety and fire prevention.

Madam Zormelo added that it was critical for them to be educated to be more intentional about common mistakes at home that could easily cause fires and other accidents.

The Power Queens Club is made up of all female workers of the ECG with the aim of helping and equipping female workers of the organisation.
