Tema can be a model metropolis in Ghana – Dr Aziginaateeg

By Laudia Sawer

Tema, April 25, GNA – Dr Benjamin Anyagre Aziginaateeg, the Chief Executive Officer of the AfriKan Continental Union Consult (ACUC), a think-tank in African good governance, has said the Tema Metropolis can become a model metropolis in Ghana if managed well.

The Tema Metropolis, which used to cover a larger area spanning from Kpone-Katamanso, Ashaiman, and Tema West through Adentan, is currently made up of the Tema East and Tema Central constituencies.

Dr Aziginaateeg, who is also a concerned Tema resident, said this when reacting to the nomination of Ms Ebi Bright as the Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive.

He told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that “If Tema is managed well, it can do a lot, including becoming a model metropolitan jurisdiction in Ghana”.

He said he was born in Tema and saw the beautiful City and thought that Tema must be rejuvenated.

Dr Aziginaateeg said Tema could create jobs, internally pay security service personnel, and roll out development models out of best practices of other global cities known as ‘smart cities”.

He said to achieve this, there was the need to have a non-partisan conference of Tema-born, irrespective of ethnic backgrounds, to pour out their expert advice to rejuvenate the harbour city cum industrial city.

He congratulated Ms Bright for her nomination, indicating that he had followed the exploits and resilience of the nominee to represent the National Democratic Congress in Tema, describing her as someone who has energy.

He expressed the hope that the new MCE nominee would live up to expectations of transforming Tema.
