Odomase, (Bono), April 3, GNA – Madam Millicent Amankwaa Yeboah, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Sunyani West Constituency, has given assurance of her commitment to extend electricity to deprived communities in the area to spur economic growth and development.
She urged the constituents and Ghanaians in general to also remain calm, saying, the government was tackling the nation’s energy sector challenges.
Madam Yeboah admitted that the challenges facing the energy sector were having a huge toll on business growth.
She, however, indicated that the government was tackling those challenges head-on.
The MP highlighted the contributions of the energy and road sectors towards rapid socio-economic growth and development and assured that the deplorable condition of roads in the constituency would be rehabilitated very soon.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Odomase, the constituency capital, Madam Yeboah said the nation required stabilised power supply to push a robust industrialization drive to spur economic progress.
She stressed her commitment to extend electricity to deprived communities in the constituency, saying she was working tirelessly to ensure that every deprived community in the area was hooked onto the national grid.
That would facilitate the growth and expansion of local business, build and strengthen the local economy and thereby impact positively in enhancing the socio-economic livelihoods of the rural dwellers.
Madam Yeboah expressed concern about the growing trend of armed robberies in the area, saying with improved and stabilised lighting systems the situation could be brought under control.
On roads, the MP said she was highly disappointed about the deplorable condition of roads in the constituency, saying the bad state of the road networks had slowed down economic activities.
However, Madam Yeboah added that the Minister of Roads and Highways, Mr Kwame Governs Agbodza had ordered contractors executing the various road projects in the
constituency to provide progress reports on those road projects.
“The Road Minister and after taking him round to inspect the various road projects in the constituency, he directed the contractors to submit their progress reports by Tuesday April 08, 2025,” the MP stated.
