Sege water supply challenges resolved

By Opesika Tetteh Puplampu

Sege, April 19, GNA - Residents of Sege and other communities in the Ada West District can now heave a sigh of relief following the resolution of the water challenges that hit the communities due to erratic water supply.

Communities such as Koluedor, Toflokpo, Salom, Lolonya, Bornikorpe, and many others resorted to collecting water from unhygienic sources as they battled water shortage for months running into a year.

To solve the issue, Mr. Daniel Keshi Bessey, the Member of Parliament for Sege, together with some members of the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) Council of Elders, and Mr. Ezekiel Awinyan Mbangiba, the Ada West District Director of the Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA), assessed the root cause of the situation at the Sege Water Treatment Plant to put a permanent solution in place.

Some damaged transformers identified as the cause of the water supply issue had since been replaced with two new ones by engineers from the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to improve the supply.

The Sege MP extended his appreciation to the Energy Minister, management of CWSA, and all relevant stakeholders who played major roles in solving the problem.

He also thanked the people of Sege for their patience and cooperation throughout the crisis, stating, “One thing is clear, and that is your zeal and interest to ensure our beloved Sege Constituency is great.”

Mr. Ezekiel Awinyan Mbangiba, the CWSA Ada West District Director, disclosed to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that, plans were underway to expand the pipes and replace smaller ones with bigger ones to ensure a continuous flow of water, adding that, the agency was now serving six districts instead of the assigned three since its inception.
