Sefwi Pataboso Chief cautions youths against  hard drugs

Sefwi Pataboso (WN/R), April 13, GNA – Barima Osoaman Ackaah Panin ll, the Chief of Sefwi Pataboso, has urged the youth to reject the notion that Red, tramadol, marijuana and other hard substances could help them to stay stronger and work for longer hours.  

He said these hard drugs would rather compromise their health and future. 

 Barima Osoaman Ackaah Panin ll was speaking at the 2025 annual celebration of the Alie Festival at Sefwi Pataboso in Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region. 

The Chief, who is also the family head (Abusuapanyin) of Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Council, addressing the durbar, said the Alie Festival was celebrated by Sefwis between April and May every year to feed the ancestors and also served as a home-coming for natives to contribute towards the development of the area. 

He said education was key on the list to help produce more professionals in the area so as to foster rapid development. 

As part of the celebration, a  community football “Gala” was organised among the surrounding communities to promote unity and love among the citizenry. 

The participating communities were Sefwi Pataboso, Afuamu, Breman, Debiso, and Nkwanta, respectively. 

At the end of the gala competition, the Afuamu community emerged the winner, followed by Sefwi Pataboso, Breman came third, Debiso took the fourth position, and Nkwanta placed fifth. 

The first and second positions received medals, set of jerseys, footballs, a trophy, and undisclosed amount.
