Anloga, (V/R), April 10, GNA – Madam Sandra Seyram Kpedor, the Women’s Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Anlo Constituency, has officially been confirmed as the new District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Anloga District in the Volta Region.
Her confirmation followed a resounding endorsement by the members of the Anloga District Assembly.
The confirmation ceremony was held on the afternoon of Thursday April 10th 2025 at the Anloga District Assembly Hall, with all 41 assembly members in attendance.
The event also drew dignitaries, including the Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, as well as a host of traditional authorities from the Anlo State, the clergy and key opinion leaders in support of the constitutional process.
Madam Seyram Kpedor received 29 affirmative votes, with 11 voting against her nomination and one ballot rejected, translating to a 71 percent approval rate from the assembly.
The outcome meets the constitutional requirement for confirmation of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives which required the nominee to receive two-third affirmations as stipulated in the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936) Section 243(1)
In her maiden address following the swearing-in ceremony, Madam Kpedor expressed profound gratitude to the assembly members, traditional leaders, and the people of Anloga for the confidence reposed in her.
She pledged to focus on critical development priorities, including education, healthcare infrastructure, agribusiness promotion, and the creation of sustainable employment opportunities for the youth in the district.
“The trust you have placed in me is both humbling and inspiring. I am committed to working collaboratively with all stakeholders to bring progress and development to every community in Anloga, I will not lord over you but rather provide a service leadership,” she stated.
The confirmation ceremony was marked by moments of jubilation, as supporters and well-wishers broke into chants and celebratory songs, expressing their excitement and support for the new DCE.
The session was presided over by the Presiding Member of the Assembly, Mr. Joseph Kpattah, who commended the members for their active participation in the democratic process.
He further urged all stakeholders to support Madam Kpedor in her new role to foster unity and accelerate development in the district.
Some members of the Assembly who engaged the GNA expressed their satisfaction with her endorsement saying, “She will deliver on her promises due to the overwhelming public support and that of the members.”
The members also promised to support her to honour her promises to project the district to higher heights.
Madam Kpedor was nominated by the President as the Distirct Chief executive. She becomes the second person and the first woman to occupy the position since the creation of the Anloga District in 2019 from the larger Keta Municipal.
