Accra, April 19, GNA – Apostle Samuel Vincent Ansah, the Ghana National Council Chairman, Great Commission Church International (GCCI), has urged Ghanaians to remain committed to sacrificing for the nation’s greatness.
He made the call in a message to mark the celebration of the crucifixion (Good Friday) of Jesus Christ, which forms the basis for the commemoration of Easter by Christians globally.
Apostle Ansah explained that the big lesson of Easter was about sacrifice, adding that “as a nation, our future welfare and greatness will be determined by the high-quality sacrifices we make”.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency to deliver his 2025 Easter message to Ghanaians, he said “until we take the challenges of our nation by it horns and avoid shying away from addressing them for political, tribal or other reasons, we will have very little to look up to for the next generation.
That was the reason why there must be serious and unified efforts by all to make the nation a great one, he said.
He reiterated that Easter was a time for sober reflection on the sacrifices that God through His only begotten Son Jesus Christ made for the remission of the sins of the world.
Apostle Ansah noted that through the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ on the cross, God continued to have innumerable children.
“No person, family, tribe, nation, or race can achieve greatness beyond the quality of their sacrifices. The quality of life and achievements we have today as a nation, have been fueled by the sacrifices of our fathers and mothers of yesteryears,” he stated.
Apostle Ansah reiterated that the quality of life and achievements that the nation would enjoy tomorrow, would be fueled by the toils of those who were privileged by divine providence to be Ghanaians today.
Quoting from The Living Bible, Apostle Ansah said: “Don’t be misled; remember that you can’t ignore God and get away with it: a man will always reap just the kind of crop he sows! If he sows to please his own wrong desires, he will be planting seeds of evil and he will surely reap a harvest of spiritual decay and death; but if he plants the good things of the Spirit, he will reap the everlasting life that the Holy Spirit gives him”.
He said current happenings in Ghana; such as corruption, lies, the accusations and counter accusations in the political arena, the acrimony, the indiscipline in educational institutions and some aspects of national life, like illegal mining (Galamsey) were not accidents but the yields of bad seeds sown either intentionally or unintentionally by Ghanaians.
He said it was worrying to note that galamsey could easily erode all the country’s numerous gains, bringing it to zero, and advised that “we must do our utmost, not just to say no to it, but completely stop the illegal practice”.
“We will need to be intentional about changing the narrative” and urged Ghanaians to identify the things that hurt the welfare and development of their nation and stop doing them.
Again, the checks and balances that related to the Executive, Legislative and the Judicial arms of government, should also be religiously observed, he advised.
He underscored importance of Ghanaians identifying the things that they needed to start doing, to help take the nation to higher levels, stressing the need to deeply abhor corruption, making sure that those who served the nation and lived honestly were greatly acknowledged.
The Reverend Minister cautioned that the “direct and indirect appreciation of thieves by society, gave the younger generation wrong standards to copy.
The Chairman said there was the need for Ghanaians to identify the things that they need to strengthen, such as the democratic credentials that buttress their efforts towards development and further, strengthen their cultural identity and heritage including their symbiotic communal life, which was worth preserving.
Apostle Ansah advised that whilst admitting the great ideas from other parts of the world, Ghanaians should not abandon their own totally, but should rather interrogate what comes in and create a hybrid for better outcomes that cloud served them better.
