Accra, April 11, GNA – The Western Central Regional Police Command have arrested 22 individuals allegedly involved in illegal mining (galamsey) activities at Dominase, Nkwanta, Adjakaa Manso, and other locations.
A press release copied to the Ghana News Agency stated that the arrests were made on April 8, 2025.
The suspects were identified as Albert Adu Bonsra, Stephen Kwakye, Richard Atigah, Yaw Menanyi, Al-Mustapha Alidu, Jutu Francis, Hakitu Zibo, Nana Yaw Boakye, Kwesi Evans, Isaac Cobby, and Bashiru Ali.
Others included Atta Francis, Ayew Sali, Fataw Gariba, Kwame Emmanuel, Kwesi Francis, Abapor Frank, Wasah Moses, Bukari Haruna, Abdulai Lukman, Yeboah Rashid, and Alkainu Hassan.
“The police team retrieved eleven (11) pumping machines, seven (7) shovels, a pickaxe, and two (2) chamfang machines from the various sites,” the release stated, noting that these items were commonly used in mining operations.
“All the suspects are in police custody and are being processed to face the full rigors of the law,” it added.
