Out-going NADMO Director urges resilient systems to tackle disaster vulnerabilities

By Christopher Tetteh

Sunyani, (Bono), April 15, GNA – Mr Rasheed Konlaabig, the out-going Bono Regional Director of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), has urged personnel to help build strong and resilient systems in tackling disaster vulnerabilities, prevention and management.

He urged them to remain innovative, corporate, reflect on past experiences, and support the in-coming Regional Director towards undertaking risk assessments to reduce disaster vulnerabilities in the region.

Mr Konlaabig gave the advice when he handed-over official documents to Madam Fati Kine Lam, the incoming Director at a staff meeting in Sunyani.

He asked her to remain proactive and responsive in tackling disasters.

Mr Konlaabig also urged the directorate to intensify public education in disaster prevention too, saying his doors were still open to assist in the directorate to effectively manage and prevent disasters in the region.

On her part Mad Lam reminded the personnel that the NADMO remained a disaster management, but not a relief organisation and urged them to redouble their efforts towards responding to disasters.

She lauded the efforts of the out-going director and the personnel in tackling disasters after receiving Regional, District and Zonal reports on fire, storm and related disasters.

Mad Lam urged the personnel to bury their political colours in the discharge of their duties, asking them to work in the supreme interest of the region and the nation by extension.
