By James Esuon

Agona Oketsew (C/R), April 1, GNA-The Agona East District Chief Imam, Alhaji Ibrahim Jabiru, has reiterated calls on Muslims to uphold the tenets of Islam and the principles of Ramadan to ensure spiritual growth, peace and stability.

According to the District Chief Imam, the mandatory 30 days of fasting and prayers for every Muslim is to engage them to ask for forgiveness of iniquities and transgressions.

Alhaji Jabiru made this known when he addressed Muslims at Agona Oketsew to mark the Eid-Ul -Fitr celebration in the Agona East District of the Central region.

He called on Muslims to live lives worthy of emulation and abstain from acts that could dent the image of Islam, adding that Ramadan was over, but it was incumbent on all to uphold Islamic teachings.

The District Chief Imam indicated that the Prophet Mohammed instituted the month of Ramadan to enable Muslims to become spiritually mature against any devilish attacks.

He expressed optimism that after the Ramadan period, Muslims would continue to exhibit true Islamic character and urged them to desist from fraudulent deals and behaviours that cast slur on the Islamic sect.

On drugs, Alhaji Jabiru cautioned the Muslim youth to say no to ‘RED and trapadoid’ that were causing harm to the health and lives of many younger ones.

He advised the Muslim youth not to channel their energy into drug abuse but endeavour to avoid it to enable them to become responsible adults in the society.

Alhaji Jabiru entreated them to avail themselves to pursue education aggressively to prepare themselves for national assignments, saying that President Mahama’s government was ever ready to give appointments to Muslim youth who had the qualifications.

The District Chief Imam urged parents to invest heavily in the education of their children, adding that any Muslim parent who failed to educate their children would be judged by Allah, according to the principles of Islam.

He cautioned the Muslim young girls to abstain from immorality and other lifestyles which affected their future.

Rather, they should be studious and acquire vocational and trades skills to enable them to become responsible women in the society.
