MMDAs will work with traditional, religious authorities – Volta RM

Hohoe (V/R), April 4, GNA – Mr James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister (RM), says all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the Region will work with all traditional authorities and religious leaders. 

He said he would however not tolerate any MMDAs in the Region that would execute its tasks without the involvement of traditional authorities and religious leaders. 

Mr Gunu who gave the assurance in Hohoe during the confirmation of Mr Prosper Kumi, the nominee for the position of Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) said the putting together of Local Government and Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs Ministries was for a good purpose. 

Mr Gunu said it was to show government’s commitment to collaborating with traditional authorities and religious leaders in development and commended the authorities and leaders in the Hohoe Municipality for their interest in the development of the Municipality adding that they were assured of more collaborations. 

A total of eight government appointees were also sworn in as members of the General Assembly including Mr Newton Darkey, Hohoe Constituency Chairman, National Democratic Congress (NDC). 

Others appointees are Mr Dzani Gideon, Mr Raphael Koku Bansah, Hillary Amexo, Mr Frank Denu, Mohammed Tajudeen Mariga and Madam Gladys Fiagadzi. 

Female representation at the General Assembly of the Municipality has decreased by one bringing the total number of females in the current General Assembly to three out of 25 members.
