Sunyani, (Bono), April 23, GNA – Mr Joseph Addae Akwaboa, the Bono Regional Minister has urged the media to put a spotlight and project the economic prospects of the region to woo investments.
He asked them to concentrate on positive and impactful stories and contribute meaningfully to the government’s reset agenda.
Mr Akwaboa said the media could criticise the government, however their criticism ought to be constructive and help to proffer solutions to national challenges.
Interacting with the media in Sunyani, the Regional Minister said negativity would drive away investors and slowed down the progressive development of the region and called on the media to showcase the economic potentials instead.
The media must always be mindful of the ethics that governs the profession in the discharge of their duties, he advised, encouraging the practitioners to be guarded and remain circumspect in order not to do anything that could compromise and disturb the prevailing peace of the region.
Mr Akwaboa emphasised that the Regional Coordinating Council remained committed to building and strengthening its relationship with the media, saying the government recognised and highly appreciated the integral role of the media towards achieving its reset agenda of building a better Ghana for all.
The Regional Minister indicated that the region had prioritised development above everything, assuring that “we will work very hard that our work will justify us in the 2028 General Election”.
Describing the Regional Minister as a media friendly personality, Mr Dickson Kyere Duah, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Berekum West re-echoed the need for the media to support the Minister in his efforts to woo investors into the region.
“That doesn’t mean that you must not criticise us, but I beg of you endeavour to do so constructively, so that together we can tap into and harness the economic prospects of our region to spur economic growth and development”, he stated.
