Atebubu, (Bono East), April 21, GNA – Mr Frank Amamoh, the Head of Inspectorate, Monitoring and Supervision of the Bono East Regional Secretariat of the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Education Unit has urged teachers to build strong and cordial relationships with pupils and students for mutual benefit.
He asked them to also redouble their efforts to help improve the academic performance of the school children saying, “the world reciprocates, and we will one day come before them for assistance”.
Interacting with teachers of the Atebubu SDA Basic School during a familiarization visit to the area, Mr Amamoh commended some teachers for accepting postings to serve in the deprived communities of the region.
He explained that the Secretariat was undertaking familiarisation visits to all the 149 Basic Schools in the Region to assess the challenges of teachers and the condition of the SDA schools.
Mr John Hayford, the Administrator, Finance and ICT at the Secretariat explained that the Secretariat was developing a five-year development plan (2025-2030) that would help improve the welfare of the teachers and promote quality education in the region.
He explained that the Secretariat was pursuing a structured development plan which entails a welfare scheme for teachers, academic excellence, rigorous infrastructure development among other interventions.
Under the plan, Mr Hayford said existing classroom blocks would be renovated, new libraries and ICT labs would also be constructed, as well as the establishment of at least two new SDA Senior High Schools.
Digital record keeping and monitoring systems would also be rolled out, as well as the organisation of unified common examination structures, Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and spiritual formation programmes for teachers would also be implemented.
Mr Hayford said a comprehensive draft document on the five-year development plan was on-going and advised the teachers to make inputs.
