Kpando (V/R), Apr. 7, GNA – Mr Killian Donkor, newly confirmed Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kpando, says he would engage stakeholders within the Municipality on the manifesto of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to develop localised plans that would drive economic growth of the area.
He said the engagement which would be in the next 60 days would focus on job opportunities and improve infrastructure in the Municipality.
Mr Donkor, in his address after been confirmed, said he would ensure equitable distribution of resources and expand access to water, quality healthcare and education.
“I will be a servant leader with my doors unlocked to all and will commit to a culture of probity and accountability in my leadership”.
Mr Donkor said he understood the challenges of all including market women, children, aged, physically challenged as well as security agencies.
He said he would work with the Member of Parliament to address youth unemployment, road networks, including the Kpando Torkor road and the Torkor landing beach and harbour.
Mr Donkor polled 19 ‘Yes’ votes representing 68 per cent and nine ‘No’ votes, representing 32 per cent of the total votes cast.
Mr Sebastian Deh, Kpando Constituency Member of Parliament (MP), said the MCE would perform activities of the central government in the Municipality.
He said he was ready to work together with the MCE to ensure the development of the Municipality.
Mr James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister, reiterated the importance of Assemblies working together with stakeholders, especially traditional rulers to accelerate development.
He said the endorsement of the nominee was the endorsement of development and progress.
Mr Gunu said the time had come to reset Ghana and the agenda must begin with the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies.
Nine government appointees were sworn in as members of the General Assembly of the Municipality.
