Ho, April 23, GNA- Kingdom of God Foundation, a non-governmental organisation into dissemination of the gospel of Christ and support for communities, has donated some relief items to the Volta Regional Coordinating Council.

The items were mattresses and bags of rice towards victims of recent tidal surges in the coastal part of the region.

The Foundation also made a cash donation of GHC20,000 to Mr James Gunu, the Volta Regional Minister to aid in his ‘water for all project,’ which aimed at providing quality water for all communities in the region.

Mr John Paul Semavor, Director of the Kingdom of God Foundation said it was important to provide support to vulnerable persons in the society.

He said the Foundation would continue to offer the necessary help to society for the needed accelerated development.

Mr Gunu thanked the Foundation for the support, saying it would go a long way to alleviate the plight of the victims of the tidal waves.

The Minister said the government was developing the necessary comprehensive strategies aimed at finding a permanent solution to the tidal surge menace.

Mr Gunu said the sea defense project was identified as a permanent solution to the situation and government had captured it and would be given the necessary priority to it to ensure that it materialise.

He said the experience of sleeping among victims displaced by the tidal waves was a grave familiarity for him and would inform actions for seeking permanent solutions to the challenge.

On his water for all project, Mr Gunu said it was to provide clean water to all residents in the region in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal Six.

The Minister said there was a huge gap when it comes to access to quality water, and in order to address this gap, his outfit had started providing mechanised boreholes to such communities.

“We cannot do it alone, we need individuals and other corporate organisations to come in and support us so that we can provide sustainable water to communities and institutions across the region,” he appealed.
