Sunyani, (Bono), April 07, GNA – Dr David Sekyi, an International Relations Expert, has urged university students to leverage on opportunities and offer voluntary services to build their confidence and give them exposure as well.

He said volunteerism remained the key to building and strengthening relationships and networking and thereby created job opportunities for graduates.

Dr Sekyi, also the Assistant Registrar at the International Relations Office of the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) gave the advice at an information session on education and job opportunities in Europe, held at the University’s main campus in Sunyani.

The Ghanaian European Centre for Jobs, Migration and Development (GEC) in collaboration the University organised the session which enlightened the students on regular migration, local labour market opportunities and the socio-economic reintegration of returning Ghanaian migrants.

It further raised awareness about Europe as an attractive destination for higher education, training, and employment.

“All is not money. This time you must consider building your exposure, confidence level and that will empower you to get good jobs,” Dr Sekyi advised the students, saying, “when you see international service of volunteerism, apply and do.

“You must not limit yourselves, instead build a brand for yourselves and volunteerism is the key if you want to build a better brand so try and leverage on the numerous opportunities online,” he stated.

Madam Jemilatu Aryee, the Technical Advisor at the Sunyani office of the Ghanaian European Centre for Jobs, Migration and Development highlighted structured migration pathways, available scholarships, vocational training opportunities, and safe and regular migration channels.

She said: “We’re looking at promoting regular migration in the right way and ensuring that we empower students by giving them the right information they need.

Most of the time we realize that our youth have the potential, the talents, and the brain, and it is imperative that we give them requisite information about educational opportunities outside” Mad Aryee stated.

She said the Center was focused on providing the students information about Europe, especially on education and work and urged them and job seekers to capitalise on its establishment and use the services of the centre.
