Tsiame (V/R), April 14, GNA – Mr Bernard Sukah, the former Assembly Member of Tsiame Electoral Area, in the Keta Municipality, Volta Region, has charged Mr Wisdom Seade, the new Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), to prioritise completing uncompleted projects in the area.
He said the move would help create jobs and opportunity for youth to alleviate the plight of unemployment among youth in the area.
Mr Sukah, who is also the Patriotic Party (NPP) Secretary in Keta constituency, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, said the area has numerous challenges, which include lack of job opportunities, support for farmers, among others.
“The good news is that Nana Addo-led government, in attempt to reduce unemployment among the youth and provide a ready market to our farmers, especially cassava farmers, started a cassava processing plant at Dorveme in the Tsiame electoral area,” he said.
Mr Sukah said the factory, which was at various stages of completion, when completed would be the first factory in the Municipality, which would provide and create more jobs for over 200 youths in the area.
He explained that the completion of the factory would not only go down the history as first factory to be started by previous administration and completed by current government in Keta Municipality but would mark a significant step toward reduction of unemployment and create job for youth.
“This ‘Tapioca’ Starch or dehydrated Cassava plant is a high-quality cassava flour, gari, fufu powder factory, when completed will be a plus to all of us, and I think it should be part of President John Dramani Mahama’s flagship 24-hour economy policy in the Municipality”.
Mr Sukah also urged the MCE to help tackle activities of Fulani herdsmen, especially in and around Tsiame and other farming communities such aa Doveme, Noliwotagbor, to prevent damages to farm products as well as to prevent any unforeseen dispute among the residents and herdsmen in the area.
He also congratulated Mr Wisdom Seade, the new MCE for his nomination which was a confirmation of his hard work and exploit as the Assembly members of the Anyako electoral area and constituency Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Keta.
He said that Keta municipal assembly was one of the oldest in Volta region and their 100 per cent endorsement to the new MCE signified unity and together among assembly members and appealed to them to leverage the unity towards bringing development projects to the municipality.
He urged companies, individuals, businesses, tourists, benevolence organisations to prioritise the area and help develop areas such as education, health, sports, economy, among others for the benefit of the public.
