Footprint International school supports Akame CHPS compound with medical supplies

Akame (VR), April 08, GNA – Footprint International Basic School, at Adzablikope in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region, has donated medical supplies and toiletries worth GH₵ 20,000 to the Akame Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) Compound.

The donation, include delivery bed, doppler, baby scale, trolley, ambo bag, BP monitor, paper, parasols, liquid soap, cotton wool, medical examination gloves, glucose with Vitamin C, methylated spirit, packs of T-roll, and a cash donation of GH₵ 500 aimed to improve the healthcare services provided by the facility.

Mr. Philimon Baiden, Proprietor of the school, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, after the donation, stated that the support was to help improve quality healthcare delivery at the Akame CHPS Compound for the benefit of the public.

“This is just the beginning of bigger things ahead, l will personally give a scholarship to the best Junior high school 1 student from the Akame Basic School to complete their basic education at Footprint International school if the learner passes the entrance examinations,” he said.

He said that a scholarship programme, dubbed the “Special Birthday Scholarship,” would be provided to any child that would be born at the health facility on September 9, between 0700 to 0300 hours to attend the school from creche to JHS 3 for free, “this initiative is because the school began in Ketu South on September 9,2015.”

Mr. Baiden urged chiefs, stakeholders, parents, corporate organisations, philanthropists and the government to assist other institutions in the various communities to address other challenges to mitigate the suffering of the public.

“The donation from Footprint International School is a significant contribution to the healthcare services in the Akame community and we are committed to support the community and promote education which is evident in our actions.”

Mr. David Agbokpe, Municipal Health Director, Ketu South, who received the items on behalf of the staff of Akame CHPS Compound, expressed gratitude to the donors and thanked them for the kind gesture that would help improve the quality healthcare delivery in the community.

He said that the facility would continue to provide better healthcare services to the community with the help and generosity of Footprint International School and pledged that the support would be used for the right purposes to benefit all.

He appealed to other individuals, groups of companies and the government to help solve other pressing challenges which include inadequate staff, equipment, bungalow, among others at the various health centres in the communities.

Mr. Wilfred Dakunya, the assembly member of Akame Electoral Area, urged the residents and the public to support their wards with the necessary items to improve better and quality education delivery among children.

He commended Footprint International basic school and “Mifa Kple Mianoewo” a christian cultural troupe at in Akame for their various support to the CHPS compound to improve progress and development of the facility.

Further information GNA gathered revealed that the donation by the Footprint International school was part of the school’s 10th-anniversary celebration and with the commitment to support healthcare and giving back to the community that has nurtured them.
