Tamale, March 31, GNA – Sheikh Hussein Saeed Yakubu Jarjaa, Imam of the Ambariya Muslim Mission in Tamale, has emphasized the need for Muslims in the country to uphold and integrate the values cultivated during Ramadan into their daily lives to contribute to national development.
He noted that Ramadan offers opportunity for Muslims to embrace discipline, patience, endurance, forgiveness, tolerance, and togetherness, adding that such virtues were essential for personal growth and the overall progress of the nation.
Sheikh Jarjaa said these while preaching the sermon at the Eid-ul-Fitr prayers marking the end of Ramadan.
“We have spent an entire month denying ourselves the pleasures of this world and sacrificing our comfort to serve the will of Allah. Let these virtues not end with Ramadan but continue to guide us in being disciplined, tolerant, and supportive of one another for the common good of our beloved country,”
He prayed for Allah’s continued guidance and protection over the country’s leadership, urging them to implement policies and programmes that would drive national development.
Sheikh Jarjaa used the occasion to advise the youth to refrain from violence and other criminal activities, underscoring the need for them to invest their time in acquiring skills and knowledge that would make them responsible citizens.
Mr Ali Adolf John, Northern Regional Minister, speaking during the prayers, called on Muslim communities to prioritize the growth and development of their children by investing in their education to prepare them for future leadership roles.
He reaffirmed President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to supporting the Muslim community through various social intervention programmes aimed at addressing poverty and deprivation.
Mr John emphasized that true development could only be achieved through peace and stability, urging all Muslims to use Eid-ul-Fitr as opportunity to embrace peace and harmony.
Mr Haruna Iddrisu, Minister of Education, commended the Muslim community for their role in ensuring peace during the 2024 general elections.
He pledged his commitment to an inclusive educational system that would provide equal access to education for all Ghanaian children without discrimination.
