Dying with Christ means eschewing sin, embracing righteousness – Rev. Gaskin

By Edward Acquah

Accra, April 18, GNA – Reverend Reuben Lamptey Gaskin, Minister at Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Resurrection Congregation, Accra, has called on Ghanaians to shun sin and embrace righteousness as the world commemorates Christ’s resurrection.

He emphasized that Christians must “die with Christ” by shedding sinful practices that fail to glorify Him.

Preaching on Good Friday under the theme “Dying with the Lord,” Rev. Gaskin urged Christians to recognize that embracing Christ’s death meant emulating His sacrifices and extending the same selflessness to others.

“Many people want to be identified with the Christ of Christmas but do not want to identity with the suffering Christ because if you want to be identified with the suffering Christ the implications are more than you can ever imagine. There’s so much enjoyment with the Christ of Christmas.

“But if we identify ourselves with the suffering Christ then we must be prepared to die with Him and the suffering that comes with it,” he said.

Rev. Gaskin urged the Church to use the Easter to evaluate their actions as Christians and land ensure that their lifestyle reflected that of Christ.

“Don’t desire sin, entertain sin, bath and swim in sin and don’t expose yourself to sin. You’re no longer a slave to sin but a slave to righteousness,” he said.

Easter is a major Christian holiday that celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It symbolizes hope, renewal, and eternal life, marking the day Christ rose from the dead.

For millions of Christians globally, Easter is a period of spiritual reflection, joy, and celebration. It brings people together in faith, fostering a sense of hope and community.
