Christians urged to exhibit the resurrection power

Accra, April 21, GNA – Christians have been urged to demonstrate the power of the resurrection in every aspect of their lives as a living testimony of Christ’s victory over sin and death.

Reverend Atta Okyere, Senior Pastor of City Baptist Church, delivering the Easter Sunday sermon in Accra, emphasised the ever present reality of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, to be lived out daily, saying: “It is not merely a historical event.”

“Christ’s resurrection is the ultimate sign of God’s power, and that power must be evident in how we conquer personal weaknesses and reflect holiness in our conduct.”

Rev. Okyere outlined three key manifestations of resurrection power for believers – Victory over sin, Fruitful relationships and work, and Unwavering hope in trials.

He said just as Christ who bore the world’s sin was raised to newness of life, Christians too must overcome sinful habits and attitudes.

“We have been imputed with righteousness through His death and resurrection,” he said, urging the congregants to pursue a life of purity and integrity.

Touching on fruitful relationships and work, Rev Okyere said the new life granted at the resurrection should transform all spheres of existence -family, friendships, and the workplace.

He challenged believers to let their faith shine in acts of service, reconciliation, and excellence, thereby pointing others to the hope found in Christ.

Rev Okyere urged Christians to have unwavering hope in trials and stand firm in the face of adversity, since the resurrection guarantees eternal life and unending hope.

“No life surrendered to Jesus Christ goes to waste,” he reminded the worshippers, insisting that every challenge was an opportunity to exhibit the power of the risen Lord.

He encouraging the church to be bold in proclaiming the gospel, living in such a way that “those around us will clearly see the benefits of Christ’s finished work on the cross.”
