Tamale, April 19, GNA – The Catholic Church in Tamale celebrated the Lord’s passion on Good Friday as part of activities in memory of the death of Christ.
Reverend Father Anthony Frimpong, Curate at the Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church in Tamale, in a sermon, emphasised the importance of Good Friday, also known as “Holy Friday” and said it was a day of mourning Jesus Christ, especially at Catholic Churches.
He said it was a special day for Christians to meditate on Jesus’ suffering and death on the cross, and what it meant for their faith.
He encouraged Christians to fully participate in the Easter festivities and repent from their sins.
Good Friday is the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and his death at Calvary, which is observed during the Holy Week.
Reverend Frimpong urged Christians to renew their relationships with God and also forgive one another as Jesus died for their sins.
He urged them to show love to the poor by assisting them with their needs as part of Christ’s teaching.
The congregation earlier had special processions or re-enactments of the crucifixion and burial of Jesus Christ, which involved the singing of solemn hymns and prayers.
