Catholic Bishop urges KSJI to nurture youth, enhance evangelism efforts

Accra, April 3, GNA – Most Rev. John Kobina Louis, Auxiliary Bishop of Accra, has urged the Knights and Ladies of St. John International (KSJI) to step up evangelism efforts, especially to the youth of the Church.

That, he said, would enable young people to better appreciate the values and principles of the Church as they prepare to take up future leadership roles and other responsibilities.

Most Rev. Louis said this at a thanksgiving service at the Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Sakumono, Accra, for Noble Sister Eugenia Ekua Enyimayew, who had been elevated to the role of Second Vice President of the Supreme Ladies Auxiliary of KSJI.

He noted that evangelism would deepen the faith of existing members and attract new followers to the Church.

“We have heard that our numbers somehow are going down a bit…It means you have to do more of reaching out…

“KSJ has a youth wing so you have to consider the programmes you run for them so that when they are in the universities and other tertiary institutions, they will remain solid as Catholics and as KSJI members to take over in the future,” he stated.

Most Rev. Louis commended Ms. Enyimayew for rising through the ranks and urged other members of the Association to emulate her commitment to the Church.

Very Rev. Fr. Benjamin K. Ohene, Supreme Subordinate Commandery Chaplain, also commended Ms. Enyimayew for her dedication and service, and encouraged KSJI members to support the Second Vice President to excel in her new role.

Ms. Enyimayew, donated an undisclosed amount to the Church, and thanked stakeholders who continue to provide support in various capacities.

Madam Eugenia Ekua Enyimayew was initiated into the Ladies Auxiliary on June 04, 1977, at St Bernadette Auxiliary (No.325), Accra, and later transferred to Immaculate Heart of Mary Auxiliary (No. 360), Adabraka in February 1983, as a Founding Member.

Prior to assuming the role of Second Vice President of the Supreme Ladies Auxiliary, she held various positions at the Subordinate, District, Grand and Supreme Subordinate Auxiliary levels, for 46 years.

She is a Member of the Supreme Executive Board and serves on various committees.
