Accra, April 3, GNA – The Catholic Professional Guilds (CPG) of the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra has launched the 10th Anniversary edition of its May Day Games and Business Fair.

The event, scheduled for May 1, 2025, at the El-Wak Sports Stadium in Accra, aims to encourage fitness, teamwork, and friendship among professionals from diverse backgrounds, through sports and games.

It would also provide a platform for entrepreneurs and business owners to exhibit their products and services.

Mr Richard Akpokavi, the Planning Committee Chair, said the fair and related activities would celebrate the Guilds’ contribution to professional and business growth in the Church.

This year’s celebration will focus on Agri-Business, with the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Mr John Dumelo, and other distinguished persons expected to attend.

The Most Rev. John Kobina Louis, Auxiliary Bishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra, urged full participation of members to foster the Church’s interested in the growth and success of established professional networks.

The May Day Games and Fair was initiated by the CPG in 2016 at the St. Thomas Aquinas School, Cantonments, under the patronage of the former Archbishop of Accra, the Most Rev. Gabriel Charles Palmer-Buckle.

It has continued to receive the backing of the current Accra Archbishop, the Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie.

Coordinated by Mr. Edward Ayem, the flagship programme also seeks to identify and rally professionals to support various developmental initiatives in the Church and beyond.

Activities lined up include seminars on financing start-ups, business development, and career guidance. The children are not left out as a playground will be provided for them, alongside other fun competitions by the youth.
