Assin Nsueam (C/R), April 17, GNA – The Assin South District Assembly has unanimously endorsed Mr Jonathan Birikorang as the new District Chief Executive (DCE), to steer the affairs of the Assembly.

The 25 Assembly members present, including 11 government appointees all voted in favour of Mr Birikorang.

Mr Birikorang, in his acceptance speech, ascribed his gratitude to the Almighty God for the honour done him and thanked President John Dramani Mahama and high-ranking members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for his appointment.

He said, he would make sure that all uncompleted projects in the district were completed, to serve their intended purposes.

Additionally, the 24-hour economy by the NDC would be rigorously pursued to generate employment for the people, he said.

Earlier, some misunderstanding had erupted when the position of a Presiding Member (PM) was being contested but Mr William Appiah finally won.

Mr Ekow Panyin Okyere Eduamoah, that Central Regional Minister, was pleased about the outcome of the results for the DCE and the PM.

He charged them to always collaborate with the traditional authorities in the district to implement policies and programmes for the development of the area and wished them well in all their endeavours.

The programme was attended by the Chiefs of the area, the clergy, Mr James Gyakye Quayson, the MP for the Assin North District and the rank and file of the NDC Party.
