Kodzi (VR), April 9, GNA – Mr George Amenyo Dzakpasu, the Assembly Member of Kodzi Electoral Area in the Anloga district of the Volta region, has called for immediate developmental support to address some pressing challenges faced by the citizenry in the area.
His appeal for action was aimed at improving the area’s progress and development to enable residents to benefit from national programmes.
Mr Dakpasu, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, stated that other challenges the area faced include deplorable roads and lack of reliable source of drinking water, which hindered movement and economic activities and posed health risks, respectively.
“The only health facility we have at Kodzi is in a state of disrepair, compromising healthcare services and we need support to renovate and build new ones in other communities to alleviate pressure on the only one here,” he said
Mr Dzakasu lamented about insufficient electricity supply extension to various surrounding communities in the area which lacked access and hindered economic and social development and called for immediate intervention to solve the challenges.
He appealed to individuals, companies, philanthropists, and the government to address these pressing challenges which he believed that collective efforts by corporate organisations can help alleviate the suffering of the citizenry and unlock the area’s potential.
“We are appealing to authorities to improve road networks, expand access to clean water, and enhance electricity coverage, and l hope that in fostering partnerships between local leaders, government agencies, companies, and philanthropists, we can drive development.”
Mr Dzakpasu expressed hope that the Anloga Assembly members would on Thursday, April 10, approve Madam Seyram Kpedor, the District Chief Executive (DCE) nominee of the area to pave the way for proper consultation and planning to resolve the pressing challenges of the various electoral areas.
He said District Assemblies play a crucial role in local governance and development in delivering essential services which include healthcare, education, and infrastructure development among others and the Kodzi electoral area’s challenges also highlighted the need for effective collaboration between local leaders, government agencies, and stakeholders to drive development.
He said the assemblies were the highest political, legislating, budgeting, and planning authorities at the local level which made them critical to Ghana’s decentralization
process and urged other assembly members to collaborate and unite for progressive development.
He said the appeal was to serves as a reminder of the importance of local governance and community engagement in driving development and working together, stakeholders can build a brighter future for the residents of various communities including Kodzi electoral area.
Some residents of Kodzi electoral area GNA engaged, expressed worry about insufficient development projects in the area and appealed to philanthropists, corporate institutions, individuals, and the government to help solve the challenges.
