Apremdo, April 12, GNA – The members of the Apremdo community in the Kwesimintsim Constituency are not happy about the attitude of staff of the CHPS compound towards health delivery.
They told the Municipal Director of Health, Joyce Begyina, during a community durbar that the staff were “really annoying” and always presented a slacking attitude towards them when they visited the facility.
They reported that initiating care at the facility is always a hell of activity as the nurses assumed an unconcerned posture towards clients.
One community member said: “They are always on their phones and don’t know who to take charge and do what…why should we waste our time to visit the facility?”
One man said: “I had a very deep cut and was bleeding profusely…I met a nurse at the facility’s entrance, and she bluntly told me she has closed so I should go inside…I became desperate and confused.”
Meanwhile, Nana Egya Kwamina XI, the Apremdohene, angered by the attitude and misbehaviour of the health providers called on the Health Directorate, to as a matter of urgency, transfer all staff from the Apremdo CHPS compound.
He said: “We need staff who are dedicated and selfless to be on duty, not these kinds of professionals denting the image of the health care profession.”
The Apremdohene lamented of the struggles to get the facility in the community and prayed that unpatriotic staff would not put the sweat and toil of the community down.
The awkward behaviour of the staff of the CHPS compound had resulted in the community abounding the facility to seek care at SDA, Kizito, Kwesimintsim among other facility thus defeating the intent of primary healthcare at the doorstep of the Ghanaian and lifting the burden of care from secondary facilities.
The community later discussed the Community Funeral Policy scheme to help families give befitting farewell to the departed.
Nana Kwamina encouraged clans and family heads to take the scheme serious.
Other community concerns raised included cattle herds and farmland destruction, activities of robbers, need for boreholes, proper drainage system, medical laboratory and placenta pit.
