Abura Kwaman (C/R), April 03, GNA – Ohemaa Egyama Egyiriwaa Ansaba I, Amankwahemaa of Abura Kwaman in the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese District of the Central Region, has urged residents to forge ahead in unity to aid the growth of the community.
She noted that negative tendencies, misunderstanding, disunity and division hindered development and progress on society.
Nana Ansaba made the call at a free health screening exercise she organised for the people of Kwaman as part of her birthday celebration.
The screening coincided with a career opportunity training for the youth and a clean-up exercise undertaken by residents.
During the health screening, Dr Beatrice Wiafe-Addai, Chief Executive Officer of Peace and Love Hospital enlightened residents about breast cancer and urged them to change their perception that the disease had spiritual connotations.
Furthermore, she told the women that when diagnosed with the disease, they should seek early medical attention for quick treatment.
She further said that cancer was curable, preventable and treatable and that they should visit the hospital once a year to prevent the escalation of the disease.
Mrs Vivian Sarfo, breast cancer survivor urged men not to desert their wives who were victims of breast cancer but fully support them to get treatment.
She told women to periodically examine their breast and immediately report any unusual development at a health facility for treatment.
Residents were screened of breast cancer, high blood pressure, malaria, diabetes and others.
The event was attended by hundreds of residents, including queen-mothers, the clergy, community leaders and breast cancer survivors.
In a related development, Dr Wiafe and her entourage paid a courtesy call on Nana Okakaben Idun Andoh V, Paramount Chief of Kwamankese Traditional Area to inform him about the exercise.
Nana Andoh on his part, praised the team for the exercise, saying good health was priceless.
