Mr Williams Boakye-Baafi, Ahafo Regional Manager of Catholic schools, made these known to journalists at Goaso in the Asunafo North Municipal, when he paid a working visit to some schools to monitor the ongoing mock examinations for the candidates.

The mock examination is being conducted by the Ahafo Catholic Education Unit for BECE candidates in all the Catholic basic schools in the region.

Mr Boakye-Baafi stated that it was the first time such common mock examinations had been organized for the candidates and said that it had come to stay.

He said before the mock examinations, a workshop on how to prepare final year students in six subjects was held for all teachers handling those subjects.

He explained that after the marking of the candidates’ scripts, School Performance Appraisal Meeting (SPAM) would be held to afford both parents, candidates, and their teachers’ opportunity to discuss the performance and strategise best ways they could help weak candidates to improve and also sustain the good ones.

In all forty-five schools are taking part in the mock examination, of which nine were Catholic Private Schools and the rest were government assisted catholic schools.

The Regional Manager commended the Ahafo Catholic Basic Schools Parents Teachers Association for sponsoring the mock and the local managers who served as external supervisors and invigilators for the mock examinations.

He also expressed the Unit’s gratitude to the Directors of Education in the Ahafo Region for their collaboration and support for successful examinations.
