Beyin (W/R), March 3, GNA – The Community Cleaners Club, a group of young volunteers, has undertaken a clean-up exercise at Beyin landing beach in the Jomoro Municipality of the Western Region.
Mr Ishmael Kanga, Leader of the Club, told the Ghana News Agency in an interview during the exercise that the gesture formed part of their commitment to keeping the sea and its surroundings clean and healthy for all.
He said it was also to conserve the ocean and marine resources for sustainable development.
“As a group, we recognise that the beach has been filled with filth, so we thought it was in order that we organise ourselves and keep the place neat,” he stated.

Mr Kanga noted that the exercise would be held periodically to help guarantee a cleaner environment for tourists who visited the area.
He said: “Tourists mostly come to this area so we will do everything in our capacity to keep this place clean so that we can attract more tourists to boost our local economy.”
He called on the community members to put in place appropriate waste disposal measures to avoid waste materials, particularly plastics from ending up along the shores of the beach.
