Takoradi, March 15, GNA — The Takoradi Zone of the Presbyterian Education Unit in the Western Region has held its third educational consultation forum to deliberate on measures to improve quality education delivery within the area.
It brought together stakeholders in the education sector, Western Regional Management of the Unit, heads of Presby schools in the zone, teachers, parents and students, among others.
It provided a platform for the participants to celebrate achievements, address pertinent challenges faced by the Unit, and review strategies to improve its dissemination of quality education in Presbyterian schools.
The forum, held in Takoradi, and supported by Lower Pra Rural Bank and Consolidated Bank Ghana, was on the theme: “Promoting Discipline, Creativity and Innovation among Pupils in Presbyterian Schools.”
The Reverend Stephen Martinson, the Western/ Western North Regional Manager, Presbyterian Education Unit, in his opening address, said discipline, creativity and innovation played a vital role in shaping the lives of pupils, hence, the theme for the forum.
He called on all stakeholders to support the Unit to continue giving of its best in terms of quality education delivery to help improve the educational standards in the country.
The Reverend Hayford Dwamena Asirifi, the Area Pastor for the Takoradi Presbyterian Church, and Chairperson for the event, said since the establishment of the Unit, it had prioritised quality education, good moral values and fear of God for its students.
He encouraged the students to take vocational and entrepreneurial training very seriously as it would help them build on their skills and open them up to new opportunities for the future.
He commended the Presbyterian Church for investing in education and making sure that students were equipped with the requisite knowledge and skills for their personal growth and development.

Mr Edmund Aggrey-Forson, the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Director of Education, also praised the Presbyterian Education Unit for their enormous contribution towards education and for bringing up responsible adults for the future.
He charged the learners to take their academic work seriously, saying it was the surest way to prepare them for a bright future.
He encouraged parents to instil good moral values and support their children with all relevant resources needed to attain academic excellence.
Awards were given to some students who excelled in last year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), and three retired teachers for their contributions and commitment to the Presbyterian Educational Unit.
