President Mahama has arrived at the Jubilee Park in Tamale as park of his “Thank You Tour” of the Northern Region following his victory in the Presidential Elections in December.
President Mahama pledges to increase the number of public holidays for Sallah celebrations.
This move, he notes, is to allow Ghanaian Muslims to fully observe their religious festivities without workplace restrictions.
President Mahama pledges his government would invest in afforestation projects to combat deforestation and promote environmental sustainability in Northern Region.
He outlines plans for infrastructure development for Northern Region to include an improvement in electricity supply, complete construction of the Eastern Corridor road to link the Northern Region through Yendi to Accra to enhance transportation, boost trade, and improve economic activities between northern and southern Ghana.
Ya-Na Abukari II, King of Dagbon Traditional Area calls on President Mahama to fix Yendi water crisis which he says has impacted negatively on Yendi and its people.
The Ya-Na calls on President Mahama to focus on development and the creation of jobs to engage teaming Ghanaian youth.

March 22, GNA – Tamale is feverishly making preparations to host President John Dramani Mahama on his “Thank you Ghana” tour of the Northern Region.
The Jubilee Park in Tamale will host the president at 1400 hours, where he is expected to address Chiefs and People in the Metropolis, to express gratitude and outline specific projects for the region.
Also, Ya-Na Abukari II, Overlord of Dagbon Traditional Area, will host the President in Yendi (the seat of Dagbon traditional Council) to a brief durbar.
