Three die in fatal crash on Wenchi-Techiman Highway

Nkonsia, (Bono), March 28, GNA – A head-on collision between a Kia Rhino truck and a taxicab on the Wenchi-Techiman Highway in the Bono Region has left three people dead.

The crash occurred in the early hours of Thursday March 27, 2025, when the Kia truck with registration number AS 7102-13 and loaded with cashew nuts had a brake failure and collided head-on with the Daewoo Matiz taxicab with registration number GN 356-19.

The Divisional Officer Grade Two (DOII) Mr Eric Boateng, the Wenchi Municipal Commander of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the crash happened at the Nkonsia portion of the stretch.

The Kia truck which was heading towards Techiman veered of the lane and crashed with the taxicab, which was also coming from the opposite direction, he stated saying two of the occupants in the taxicab died on the spot.

Another female occupant of the taxi who sustained severe injury was also pronounced dead by the health workers at the Wenchi Government Hospital.

Mr Boateng said the bodies had since been deposited at the same hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy, adding that the driver’s mate of the Kia truck was also responding to treatment at the hospital.
