Three alumni groups of Old Achimotan embark on legacy projects

Accra, March 04, GNA- Three alumni groups from Achimota Senior High School in the Greater Accra Region have launched several projects to improve the school’s facilities and enhance teaching and learning.

The alumni groups of the Old Achimotan Association (OAA), celebrating their 50th, 40th, and 25th anniversaries, include the 1975, 1985, and 2000 graduating classes.

The OAA 75 and 85 groups will be presenting a legacy project worth Ghc1.5 million in equipment to the Science Laboratories on March 5, according to a statement issued to the Ghana News Agency.

The alumni groups are confident that these resources would provide students with valuable experiences and better equip Science students, in particular, for the next stage of their education.

The statement also mentioned that the OAA 2000 (2G) group had started building an 18-unit Classroom Block as part of its Legacy Project, with completion and handover scheduled for November 2025.

The purpose for the Classroom Block as a Legacy Project, it said, was to create a lasting infrastructure that benefited future generations of Achimota.

“All the Year Groups celebrating their anniversaries this year believe in impacting the lives of students who pass through the walls of Achimota,” it said.

The statement explained that the event aimed to bring together members of the OAA 75, 85, and 2000-year groups to celebrate their rich history, honour their founders, highlight their achievements to fellow alumni, and document the exceptional heritage of Achimota School.

The school has scheduled its 98th Founder’s Day celebration for March 9 this year.

The Founder’s Day is an annual event that honours the school’s heritage and rich culture, bringing together students, alumni, and well-wishers of Achimota School.

The celebration will culminate with a Thanksgiving Service at Aggrey Chapel on March 9.

The statement urged all past students of Achimota SHS and education enthusiasts to join in celebrating the 98th Founder’s Day durbar.
