Accra, March 27, GNA – Tullow Ghana and its partners have announced a scheduled maintenance shutdown at the Jubilee field, set to commence on Tuesday, March 25, for a duration of 16 days.
The exercise aims to enhance operations, improve production capacity, and mitigate operational risks, a press release issued to the Ghana News Agency, said Monday.
During the period, critical repairs and upgrades will be carried out on the Kwame Nkrumah Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel. These works will include retooling of key equipment, conducting leak tests, and expanding facilities to accommodate increased gas exports.
The announcement follows the recent completion of a 4D seismic survey on the Jubilee and TEN fields, which was undertaken to assess future drilling prospects and ensure the sustainable development of Ghana’s oil resources.
The maintenance activities are also expected to extend the operational lifespan of the FPSO and prepare it for a mini-drilling campaign scheduled for May 2025.
To ensure an uninterrupted gas supply to the country, Tullow and its partners have reached an agreement with the government to source gas from the TEN fields during the shutdown period.
Commenting on the planned works, Mr. Jean-Medard Madama, Managing Director of Tullow Ghana, said:“This maintenance shutdown is a crucial step in safeguarding our field assets and enhancing production efficiency at the Jubilee field.
“It also reinforces our role as the lead operator of Ghana’s main oil fields and our commitment to developing the country’s resources in a responsible manner that creates value for all stakeholders.”
