Roman Catholic JHS Clinches Victory at 2025 Kwaebibirem Municipal Inter-Schools Quiz Competition

Kade (E/R), March 18, GNA – As part of activities to mark Ghana’s 68th Independence Day, the Kwaebibirem Municipal office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) organized an inter-schools’ quiz competition for Junior High School (JHS) students in the area.

This educational initiative brought together enthusiastic students from JHS in the municipality, aiming to foster a deeper understanding of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution and promote active participation in Civic Education Clubs.

Held at the premises of Roman Catholic JHS in Kade, the competition featured three schools: Nana Apeaweah JHS, Roman Catholic JHS, and E.P Basic JHS.

The event attracted widespread attention from various surrounding communities and was graced by notable dignitaries, including NCCE officials, Civic Education Club Patrons, and respected members of the community.

The audience included 144 students, comprising 81 females and 63 males, who gathered to witness their peers tackle challenging questions on Ghana’s 1992 Constitution and current affairs.

The quiz generated excitement and an atmosphere of friendly rivalry, as the participating students showcased their knowledge, critical thinking, and composure under pressure.

After an intense series of rounds, Roman Catholic JHS emerged as the overall winner, earning well-deserved accolades and applause from attendees.

E.P Basic JHS secured second place, while Nana Apeaweah JHS finished third. All the schools were recognized for their outstanding performances and were presented with certificates and awards.

In her address, NCCE Municipal Director Mrs. Gertrude Adwoa Defoe highlighted the critical role civic education plays in shaping responsible and patriotic citizens.

She commended the participants for their dedication and encouraged them to carry the lessons learned into their daily lives.

Mrs. Defoe also praised the efforts of the organizers and emphasized that such initiatives were vital for instilling a sense of national pride and civic responsibility in Ghana’s youth.

She expressed optimism that the competition would inspire more students to join Civic Education Clubs and take active roles in their communities.

She noted that the competition was not just a test of knowledge but also a celebration of teamwork, perseverance, and the rich intellectual potential of Ghana’s future leaders.

The NCCE, along with its Civic Education Club Patrons, reaffirmed its commitment to empowering young people through civic education programmes, stating that the quiz competition will be remembered as a significant milestone in promoting civic education and national unity among Ghana’s youth.

The initiative stands as a testament to the NCCE’s dedication to nurturing informed, active, and responsible citizens who will play pivotal roles in the nation’s development.
