Accra, March 28, GNA – Parliament has approved GH¢31 billion budget for the Ministry of Education for the year 2025.
The approved budget is set to bring about significant changes in the country’s education sector, particularly in higher education.
As part of its plans for the year, the Ministry intends to waive academic fees for all first-year students in public tertiary institutions, aiming to enhance access to higher education.
This move is expected to alleviate the financial burden on students and their families, making higher education more inclusive and accessible.
Furthermore, the government will implement free tertiary education for persons with disabilities, aiming to reduce the financial burden on families and promote inclusivity in education. This initiative is a significant step towards ensuring that individuals with disabilities have equal access to education and opportunities.
To improve teacher welfare, the Ministry plans to commence the construction of 100 accommodation facilities for basic schoolteachers under the “Teacher Dabrɛ Initiative”.
This initiative aims to provide teachers with decent accommodation, improving their living conditions and overall well-being.
