Effia (WR), Mar 08, GNA – The Takoradi Technical University has welcomed 8,933 students into the University community to pursue various programmes.

The University received a total of 10,717 applications for the academic year and 8,933 students were successfully enrolled comprising 5,982 males, making 67 percent and 2,946 females constituting 33 per cent.

Reverend Professor John Frank Eshun, the Vice Chancellor of the University said 60 percent of the admissions were into TVET related programmes; demonstrating TTU’s strong commitment to fulfilling its mandate.

He told the Junior members of the University that TTU was not only a place of learning but also one of growth and innovation.”

Choosing to pursue higher education reflects your ambition and vision for a brighter future…our dedicated faculty and administrative staff are here to guide and support you, and we are committed to helping you succeed.”

Reverend Professor Eshun reminded them to uphold the values of integrity, respect, and excellence and respect for authority.

The TTU, he noted, was committed to providing a conducive environment for academic excellence and global exposure and while there would be challenges, “remember you are not alone your peers, faculty, and staff are here to support you every step of the way.”

The VC also encouraged them to work hard, develop critical thinking skills and focus on opportunities, personal growth and development to unlock the full potential by making the most of the available resources, such as E-library, general library, workshops, laboratories, incubation hubs and a carrier development office to enrich their experience at the school.

The University had zero-tolerance policy on sexual harassment and reinforced the commitment to fostering a culture of respect, dignity, and inclusion.

Students are expected to report all sexual harassment issues through hotlines: 0201900220 for the main campus and 0201900221 for the BU campus, respectively.

Reverend Professor Eshun called on the junior members to balance studies with positive social activities and become mindful of their associations adding, “avoid vices such as drug abuse, alcoholism, promiscuity, and occultism, which will lead to your expulsion.

Also, avoid swimming at the beach for your safety and attend lectures, rest well, seek advice, and appreciate those who helped you to reach this point. Be security conscious and exercise caution around the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolis, especially at odd hours, and be careful with new acquaintances. Stay safe and make the most of your time here.”
