Oti farmers urged to unite for better resource allocation

By Kingsley Mamore

Dambai (O/R), Mar 21, GNA – The Oti Regional Agricultural Director, Mr O’Brien Nyarko, has made a clarion call to farmers in the region to unite and form strong associations to advocate for better resource allocation.

His appeal is aimed at empowering farmers to access essential resources, such as funding, equipment, and expertise, to enhance their agricultural productivity and competitiveness.

Speaking at the first Oti Regional delegate Congress of the Ghana National Association of Farmers and Fishermen (GNAFF), Mr Nyarko emphasized that the lack of cohesion among farmers has hindered their ability to effectively lobby for resources and support.

He stressed that by uniting, farmers can pool their resources, share knowledge, and speak with a stronger voice to demand better services and infrastructure from the government and other stakeholders.

The Director noted that the government and development partners are more likely to invest in organized and cohesive farmer groups, rather than individual farmers.

The Oti Regional Agricultural Director has assured farmers that his office will provide technical support and guidance to help them build effective unions and access resources.

With unity and determination, farmers in the Oti Region can overcome the challenges they face and build a brighter future for themselves and their communities.
