Sunyani, March 29, GNA – Ghana has achieved significant progress in orthopaedic care in hip replacement surgeries.
Thanks to advancement in medical technology and medical specialists in various health facilities of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and the 37 Military Hospital in Accra and the Kumasi Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Indeed, those facilities have played an instrumental role in advancing the nation’s orthopaedic care, providing state-of-the-art treatments and improving surgeries.
According to a 2019 study conducted by George Akintunde and Paul Ofori-Atta, between February 2013 and October 2017, a total of 113 hip arthroplasty procedures had been successfully conducted on 109 patients.
It indicates further that 82 knee arthroplasty procedures had also been carried on 76 patients.
Banhart Specialist Hospital
Undeniably, the immeasurable contributions of the Banhart Specialists Hospital can’t be ignored in telling Ghana’s success story in the field of orthopaedic care.
The facility, situated at Kenyasi, was established a decade ago focusing on delivering high-quality healthcare to the community.
Overcoming challenges, the facility earned public trust, expanded its services in 2017 by opening the Banhart Specialist Hospital in Kumasi, previously known as Wellpoint Hospital.

Success Story
Mary Asamoah, (not her real name) a 62-year-old woman who was going through severe pain and mobility issues had her breakthrough when she sought services at the Banhart.
The client was diagnosed with a femoral neck fracture however, her story changed at Banhart after successfully going through a hip replacement surgery.
Led by Dr Vincent Ativor, an orthopaedic surgeon, the specialists at the facility took the clients through a successful surgery.
Within a month of post-surgery experiences, the clients regained her ability to walk, significantly enhancing her quality of life and providing relief for her family.
Banhart Specialist Hospital has successfully completed total hip replacement surgeries, establishing itself as a prominent private healthcare provider in Ghana.
Those achievements position the facility as a significant contributor to hip replacement procedures and other specialized medical conditions and thereby enhancing the availability of high-quality and equitable healthcare in Sunyani and beyond.

According to Mr Owusu Ansah, the Business Manager at the Hospital, the facility places emphasis on exceptional healthcare services mixed with core values and principles.
It has skilled medical professionals, high-quality medications, advanced facilities, round-the-clock security and a clean environment.
Mr John Baptist Kabo-Bah, the Head of Business Development at the facility stressed the facility commitment to innovating strategies aimed at enhancing client welfare thereby establishing new benchmarks in healthcare service delivery.
“In fact, our recent landmark achievement in the hip replacement surgery marks the beginning of significant medical advancement,” he stated.
